How Technology has Changed Learning and Education?

In the words of Mark McKinnon, “technology and social media have brought power back to the people. The 21st century is by and large seen as the century of digitization. Almost each and everything service has become digital—be it getting a letter or addressing a nation. It is rightly said that the only thing that will prevent you from technology is doing nothing. Simply put, if you are active, are somehow involved in anything, you will have to get acquainted with technology. Technology has transformed the world to such an extent that people have started thinking as to how will the world be, without it.
Technology has touched and influenced every sphere of the society and education is certainly not the exception. It is rather among one of the few sectors that has witnessed radical changes with the advent and expansion of technology. Education and learning sector has in fact gone for a makeshift with the very intervention of technology. Right from accessing to disseminating information, technology has a great role to play.
Ø Everything has become online: The term online have become widespread, thanks to the advent of technology. Almost everything related to education has now become online—be it availability of form, classroom, depositing examination fees, appearing in the examination and of course the outcome of the result. The very mode through which the education and its accessories were coming to the students, have all now become digital.

Ø Instant availability of information: All important information related to education has become available in just few clicks. What has begun now is death of distance era. You may access important lecture related to your subject that was delivered in US, by just sitting at the comfort of your home. There is no need to toil hard in the quest of getting valuable information.

Ø Better teacher-student interaction: Not many years have passed when the teacher would start writing on the blackboard/whiteboard in his almost one hour of lecture and ask the students to write down all these in their copies. But, gone are those days now. Even if a teacher writes down on whiteboard, the students just take its snapshot with their mobile phones and ask teacher to proceed further. Today, the teacher is seen focusing on concept part more and less on copying through a book. And all these things translate into better teacher-student interaction.

Ø Apps for Education: There are so many companies today that have developed mobile education apps for the students. With the help of these Apps, the students become able to know about a particular chapter, course, or the tips to do better in entrance examinations they are preparing for. And in order to attain the knowledge, the only thing that they need to do is to install an App in their mobile phones.

Ø Online Degrees: Not only the forms, or study materials, even the degrees have become online these days. If you go to Google and type Online Degrees, you will come to know about a number of accredited US institutions that offer online degrees and help students get exciting job opportunities.
